Advertising Design I

This is the beginning. We teach you how to function in the exciting and dynamic business of advertising. Do you like photography? Digital photography and the expert level use of the program Adobe Photoshop are emphasized in this course. Beginning a portfolio for college or design school is also a focus of this course. Advertising Design II

Portfolios are expanded upon and improved in this second year of Ad Design. Students typically visit an advertising agency and have guest speakers from the industry and from post-secondary institutions. You will spent time learning advanced concepts in illustration and advertising as well as new software programs like Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and others. Sometimes students begin to specialize in one area during this year. It is definitely a high level study of the business. Open to Grades 11-12.

Advertising Design III

For those who are serious about going into an advertising agency setting, this class is essential. It is a small group with a tight focus on portfolio. Many of the projects that these students will produce are State winners. Some students from this class have been selected to compete at the National level. This is where college-bound advertising majors congregate to put the polish on their work. Open to Grades 11-12.

TICP (can be taken after Ad I)

TICP is the course for students wanting to work on an internship during school hours. You must be 16 or over. In addition, you need your own transportation to your industry sponsor. In this class, local training sponsors in advertising design or a related field provide job-specific skilled training. Practical lab experiences are provided along with entrepreneurship, leadership, work ethics and discussion of career opportunities in the field. This program allows students to receive pay and classroom credit simultaneously. There are also unpaid internships, and these may be worked out with the instructor or the counselor.
