MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS (WOODWORKING)

An Exploratory course which addresses the knowledge and skills important in manufacturing technology. Students study common manufacturing tools, machines, materials, and processes in the laboratory. Experiences in planning and controlling simulated manufacturing systems and projects allows students to explore the organizational structures and management strategies in manufactruing. Taught at Dale Jackson Career Center for students for Lewisville High School, Marcus High School, The Colony High School, and the Lewisville Learning Center. Materials need to be purchased for projects and lab work.

MILL AND CABINETMAKING I (MACHINE WOODWORKING)

Students will have the opportunity to develop skills needed in the area of industrial woodworking or millwork--fashioning raw wood materials into gun cabinets, desk, stereo cabinets, speaker boxes, hope chests ect. Instruction will include the safe use and maintenance of hand, portable power, and machine tools. Students will learn and apply the basic elements of projects planning such as measurements and drafting techniques. VICA Club is part of the class. Students wishing to do personal projects, as well as core projects, will be expected to pay for the materials.

MILL AND CABINETMAKING II (MACHINE WOODWORKING)

This course will fully develop the student's expertise and craftsmanship in the manufacturing and production of quality cabinets and furniture. Students will be made aware of new technological advancements and changes occuring in this traditional but progressing industry. Students wishing to do personal projects will be expected to pay for the materials.
