HEALTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY I
This class content explores the health care industry and requirements
for entry to health careers. The content relates to the organization
of health care, patient relationships, working environments, and ethical
and legal responsibilities of the health care worker. Curriculum includes
up-to-date information about critical health issues and assists students
to improve self-esteem and to make responsible decisions regarding their
personal health as well as a career choice. This course can satisfy
the required Health credit or Health elective credit.
Open to grades 10-12.
HEALTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY II
This course includes development and application of skills in a classroom
and clinical setting, relating to a group of health occupations. The
student will observe and/or give assistance to professional health care
personnel in a clinical environment. The course content includes comprehensive
medical terminology related to anatomy and physiology, CPR certification,
and the health care system today. Professional attitude and appearance
with excellent attendance record required for placement in the Clinical
sites.
Open to grades 11-12
HEALTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY III
This course is more in-depth approach to specific occupations. The student
will develop and apply skills and is expected to assume some responsibility
for independent study under close supervision of the classroom teacher
and the clinical supervisor.

HEALTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY INDEPENDENT STUDY
A project-based learning experience developed by a student or group
of students and an interdisciplinary mentor team. The project provides
opportunities for an in-depth study of at least one aspect of the health
care industry. The student or group demonstrates the ability to utilize
a variety of resources, advanced technology, and communications skills
in the development and presentation of a project. This activity meets
one of the Distinguished Achievement Program measures.
