Debra Powers, Dale Jackson Career Center
Teacher of the Year - 2008

The 2008 Teacher of the Year for the Dale Jackson Career Center is Debra Powers. Debra brings to DJCC a comprehensive range of specific skills and vocationally-acquired abilities that couples over thirty years of design, administration and management know-how. She has a proven facility for being able to successfully organize, communicate and coordinate a wide variety of elements in either a training or commercial environment.  

As an owner/manager of two salons, she has taught in Post-secondary and Private Cosmetology schools, teaching specialty courses including Manicuring, Artificial Nails, Esthetics, Makeup, Advanced Haircoloring and Precision Based Haircutting. As a Director of Education, she has written Cosmetology, Nail, and Instructor Curriculum. She has coordinated and narrated various hair, fashion, and beauty oriented shows for civic and social organizations as well as product promotional workshops and platform education.

For 12 years prior to coming to DJCC she has served as a Regional Performing Artist (RPA) for Redken, traveling throughout Texas, as well as Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Illinois, Florida and New York. In addition to teaching, she continues to work as a Stylist and Certified Haircolor Specialist.
